Sunday 24th March 2024

10.30am - 2.30pm

This workshop will cover everything the baffled novice needs to know. Sewing no longer needs to be a mystery and your sewing machine is not your enemy!

On the day we will cover- Which kit you need, how to wind a bobbin and thread up correctly, using the right threads, selecting the right fabrics and good projects to start with. We’ll look at those common machine issues that can really knock a beginner’s confidence. And we’ll look at how a sewing machine actually sews and some basic maintenance.

There’s plenty of time in the session to ask questions and practice what you’re learning. If you want to take notes you can do so on your phone or bring a notepad.

After lunch you will be shown how to cut a pattern and make a tote bag using recycled fabrics.

You will receive lots of guidance, support and reassurance on the day. You are in good hands and will be given lots of handy hints and tips. It is guaranteed you will leave the studio a happier and more confident stitcher.

We have lots of sewing machines so use one of ours, but if you’d like to learn on your own that’s okay. Please make sure that it works beforehand!

Refreshments are provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Parking is in the side yard, behind the decorative black gates next to 1 Burns St. the gates will be opened 30 minutes before the session begins.
